Mindfulness Training

Once we are aware, we can then choose how to respond.

Mindfulness - an essential tool

Mindfulness training is an essential skill to learn in order to reduce the ADHD symptoms as when we are aware of a certain behaviour we can change it. Mindfulness can also help us calm the mind which is essential if we suffer from anxiety and depression.

Studies have shown that there is a shorter delay between an external stimulus and our response within ADHD brains and therefore, we are quick to respond to anything going on around us before thinking about the consequences for ourselves or impact on others. Therefore, mindfulness is an excellent tool to overcome powerful emotions and increase a buffer between the stimulus and response. Our online course includes an introduction to mindfulness training so you can start applying it to your life.

Due to the way ADHD affects the brain, we are highly sensitive and can become easily overwhelmed with powerful emotions. Practicing mindfulness of the breath can help bring ourselves back into the present moment rather than automatically responding to triggers. There are many ways to incorporate mindfulness in your life aside from sitting on the floor in a meditative posture. Therefore, we have designed many sessions where you can apply mindfulness to your life. Ignite the ADHD superpower of curiosity and try a session today.

Still not convinced?

Yes, we understand that most people’s perception might be of sitting still in a Lotus position meditating is an ADHDer’s idea of a nightmare. However, we believe you can apply mindfulness in many different ways to practice the skill. All meditation is a tool to understand and train the mind. You will find a number of recorded meditations that you can access in the holistic hub area but we suggest attending a Mindful Monday session to find out more and click on the learn more button below.
